The images I produce portray the plight of the prey and the protection of the saved,” award-winning director and producer Gavin Garrison explains. “Great victories and great tragedies unfold all over the world daily. My art is seeking out and capturing these hidden and distant dra- mas and revealing them to the world.” Garrison’s work focuses on environmental conservation, and, he points out, a single outstanding online image or video can increase awareness at the speed of light. Collective awareness can inspire changes in perception, values and practice where they are needed most. A graduate of the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, Garrison was born in Texas in 1987 and grew up among environmental activists.
